During your getaway to the West End Hotel, don’t miss the magnificent exhibition dedicated to Robert Doisneau at the Charles Nègre Photography Museum, located in the heart of Old Nice. Indeed, from October 14, the museum is organizing a retrospective of this photographer… undoubtedly one of the greatest post-war French photographers.

Called “The Marvelous Everyday Life”, this exhibition, which will run until January 2024, was set up with the Atelier Robert Doisneau located in the Paris region. It presents 110 photographs and can be discovered in 2 stages: Le Merveilleux daily sets out to discover Paris and its suburbs between the 1930s and 1970s through 78 old or vintage prints and 2 large relief montages created by the artist. It is an opportunity to reconnect with the simplicity and beauty of everyday life with now essential works such as the famous Kiss of the Town Hall or Mademoiselle Anita.

The exhibition then takes you to Palm Springs 1960. It is a report produced for Fortune magazine on the construction of golf courses in the heart of the Colorado desert. The photographer used color film to bring to life the artificial atmosphere of this oasis for rich and happy American retirees with joyful opulence.

Robert Doisneau has left his mark on many generations with his black and white photos. With his ability to capture simple moments of ordinary life, to transform them into extraordinary photos, the photographer offers a unique universe that has marked the collective imagination.

The Aston la Scala Hotel – member of 3A Hôtels La Collection alongside the West End Hotel – is a partner of this exhibition which will take you back in time. Not to be missed and to be discovered until January 28, 2024 in this museum which highlights the big names in photography and regional artists.
